b. This should be a monument and not a placeholder.

b. I am sick of promotional renderings/photo's of buildings always being taken at night. According to the lunar position it looks as thought the shot was timed for 10pm... isn't that when the local news is on?

c. Let me guess - a sea of cubicals - or should i say sky?

This weekend was pride and Comfest. I have had an amazingly fun time. Serving beer and stowing away on a float would probably be the highlights along with brunch at Kristens and dinner at Haiku. The day ended with pool and drinks at Heidi's. Awesome time with way too much drinking involved. But isn't that what summer festivals are known for?

beer.

This weekend is pride here in Columbus. I will be serving beer as well as drinking it. I apologize now for not being able to give any away free and for not serving the underage - but please come and say hello regardless.

It is the thought that counts.... right?

redo.

The fun part of the grad school application process is now beginning - creation of the portfolio.

I looked through some of my old projects last night and decided that a few need reworking to add a new 'edge' to them. I am so rediculously excited about working on this I can barely sit still at my desk here at work. I can't wait to get home, crack open a beer, blast some music and get to work. Let's hope this thing ends up looking great.

I also have some other side projects in the works and I will share depending on the outcome.

Side note: The last competition Joe and I entered together we sadly didn't win. But, on an up note we were published in a periodical. That's good enough for me....

Not sure if I buy the argument.

I do appreciate it though.

hanging.

After having too much fun last night at an architecture party I have been struggling all day to correct myself. My usual hangover remidies have not worked too well. These involved such things as napping, chipotle, water, asprin, walking, 2 baths... i am still feeling rather awful.

I managed to walk down to the local arts festival this morning and witnessed the most wonderful play of Charile and the Chocolate Factory put on by children. It was so well done that i couldn't believe that some of these kids had memorized the millions of lines that they did. I have never been one for drama, but these kids (aged 6-12) were great. For a moment I actually thought aboutnmaybe fitting a kid into my life plans. ;)

It is gallery hop tonight - and I feel a need to walk around and see people - especially the people who have art showings and i promised an appearance... maybe after some ice-cream and an espresso I will feel more up to it......

side note: I am still obsessed with flickr and added some more pictures today of my walk around town.

peeps.

I am currently reading a wonderful book entitled, "The Curious Life of Robert Hooke," by Lisa Jardine. In short it is set in the 17th Century (1600's) London and is about the life of a man who despite being a scientist, architect, engineer, writer and biologist never quite made it.

My favorite quote so far was taken from Mr. Hooke's diary towards the end of his life when he began to bombard his body with concotions he believe were remedial. He states, as a closing sentence... "A modern world, a modern medicine."

How much does that put you in your place! ha!

Additionally, I just ordered a book about Samuel Pepys (a familiar face to Mr. Hooke) and was quite happy to find a site full of his diary entries.
